Tsunami is japanaese and means Harborwave. That goes back to the old japanes Fisherman, that would come back from a fishing trip finding their harbor devastated. People would tell the fisher man of a giant wave that destroyed the harbor but the fisherman who came back form the sea did not see any wave.
This picture is a courtesy of mauirippers showing Mauis own harbor wave in Kahului, taken 2 days ago. Stand up barrels inside a harbor basin, that is crazy. Only on Maui, or does anyone know another harbor wave like that? I doubt it.
The Reef Hawai’ian Pro at Ali’i Beach Park in Hale’iwa took a break today. The organizers are waiting for another swell.
I have to cook steaks now.
